  • Expert Lecture on Challenges of HRM in Todays Context more

    The college organized an expert lecture on Challenges of HRM in Todays Context for the students of TY BBA and FY MBA on 16 December 2010. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Alok Mishra, General Manager- HR, ONGC. During the one hour lecture, Mr Mishra dwelled on his personal experiences as an HR professional through the changing times in Indian economy and presented some concrete suggestions to the students as to how to prepare themselves for the challenges of the modern economy. He focussed on the concept of employability and encouraged students to be lifelong learners. He also suggested that if the institutions or corporate establishments wanted to get or retain best professionals, they need to be proactive and present newer challenges to the talented professionals. Professionals thrive on the challenging assignments and it becomes the job of the HR professional of the organization to retain productive employees. In the question-answer session, Mr Mishra answered students' queries on changing economic conditions. He winded his lecture by exhorting students to focus on employability factor of the personality. In the year 1999, the birth of Maliba Campus, Gopal Vidyanagar was nothing short of a miracle. It had little, except a humble wish to contribute to Bardoli that seemed to lack almost in everything.

  • Campaign for Preservation of Wildlife more

    Students of the Environment Club designed an interesting campaign to draw the attention of the society towards the grave need of preservation of wildlife. A group of 15 students painted their face as different wild animal and prepared placards carrying the message of wildlife preservation. During the Welcome Get-together 2010, these students marched on the stage and presented their message in the most evocative way

  • 3-Day Tour to Mahabaleshwar-Panchgini-Mumbai(Essel World/Water Kingdom) more

    The college organized a 3-day tour to Mahabaleshwar-Panchgini-Mumbai (Essel World/Water Kingdom) for the students of SY - BCA, BBA, B.Com. The tour brought the much-needed change from the hectic schedule and provided tremendous amount of fun and froclic.Tour started on 25 th September at 2:30 pm from the college. Then we had a hault for dinner near a hotel. We enjoyed delicious Puri-Bhaji for the dinner. Kaju-Katri was also served aferwards.On 26 th September 2010, at approximately 10:30 am, we reached Mahabaleshwar. All of us were given accommodation in a Hotel. Our first visit was to Table-Point and Pandava's Cave at Panchgini. Students enjoyed Horse-riding and Camel Riding. All of us were thrilled to see a beautiful rainbow at this spot. Then we visited Mapro Foods factory and outlet. Every one enjoyed fast-food and bought lots of Jelly Chocolates and Fruit-Crush. The evening was reserved for shopping. After that we had dinner and all of us went to the hotel to rest.

    On the second day, we covered different points in Mahabaleshwar. There everyone enjoyed lots of spots like Echo-Point, Tiger-Point, Suicide point etc. Everyone then went to visit Lord-Shivs Shivalingam Temple located in old Mahabaleshwar. Everyone then visited Venna Lake where we enjoyed boating in wonderful atmosphere of Mahabaleshwar. Some students also enjoyed Horse-riding and Camel-riding. Then we returned to our hotel and had a shopping in Mahabaleshwar. After the dinner, DJ was organized and all the students and faculty enjoyed it to the hilt. We reached Mumbai at 6.00 am. We halted briefly to get freshen up and for tea and breakfast and at 9.00 am we proceeded for the Essel World. We reached there at 10:30 am. Students were divided for the Essel world and Water kingdom along with faculty. In Essel world students enjoyed all the rides for numbers of time and at water kingdom too, students moved their feet in rain-dance DJ in water kingdom and in Essel world students enjoyed DJ floor at Rocking Valley. The group left the Essel World and Water Kingdom at 5:30 pm and after a simple but delicious dinner, headed back to home.

  • Celebration of Independence Day more

    The Independence Day was celebrated in the campus with full patriotism. Students of different departments attended the celebration. All the faculties of GopalVidyanagar were present to celebrate the 63rd Independence Day of India. Music system was playing patriotic songs right from the early morning.

    The flag-hoisting ceremony started at 9:10 a.m. The Chief Guest for the occasion was ShriKiritbhai Patel, Secretary, Bardoli Pradesh KelvaniMandal. He was escorted by cadets on to the stage to unfurl the tri-colour. Everybody saluted the tri-Colour and it was followed by the National Anthem. The Chief Guest was given Guard of Honour followed by Parade by B.P.Ed students. In his address , he congratulates everybody on the Independence Day. He focused on development of nation through education. He emphasized on quality education for development of successful nation. After his address, the Chief Guest was escorted back to dais. The ceremony ended with refreshment being served to everybody.

  • Plantation Drive more

    The monsoon, this year, has coincided with the plantation drive in the college. The Director got into the act and brought plenty of pots and saplings. A week of hard work resulted into the green cover returning to the college corridors. All interested students did their bit by lending a helping hand to the gardener in the up-keep of the plants.

  • Value Based Education-Cum-Exhibition more

    The Spiritual Club of the college, as part of its wide-ranging activities, organized an exhibition programme based on the life and teachings of Shrimad Rajchandra. The 10-days exhibition programme was inaugurated on 29 July 2010 by Shri Bhula Dada and Shri Pramodbhai Patel, patrons and promoters of the college.

    The exhibition was the result of week-long hard work put in by almost 300 students of the college under the guidance of the Director, Spiritual Club coordinator, and members of the staff. A total of eight exhibitions were installed in Shrimad Hall of the college. These installations exhibited wide themes encompassing various aspects of ShrimadRajchandras teachings. The beautiful installations used wide variety of materials- thermocol, cotton, soil, plants, twigs, toys, colourful papers, pots and pans, tent, books, and many more things- to showcase different lessons taught by Shrimad Rajchandra. Some of the themes were types of Kindness, forbidden habits and food materials, ideal Householder, ideal Businessman, types of Guru, manifestation of Soul, types of Gati, and different strokes of Shrimad Rajchandra's life.

    These exhibitions were organized with the intention of providing value education in a novel and exciting way. Instead of classroom lectures, students were asked to select any topic they wish to represent and this spurred the students to browse through all Shrimad Rajchandras literature available in the college. They read extensively, selected a topic and did another round of intensive reading to grasp all the nuances of the topic. Thereafter, they put together their ideas how best to represent the topic in installations. This was an experiment in thorough self-learning. As it was activity based, all students involved in it enjoyed the whole process most thoroughly.

  • Rak - First Communal Work of New Academic Year - 2010 more

    RAK club started its kindness activity with full boom. In the new academic year, teaching staff of the college donated stationery items to the children of Kanai Government School. Books, Notebooks, Pencil, Sharpener, Wax Colour, Eraser, and other stationery items were distributed to each student of Kanai Primary School by the teaching staff.

  • Orientation Programme more

    The five day orientation programme for FY BBA, BCA, and BCom students was held from 23 June 2010 to 28 June 2010. During this mega event, we got to interact with the parents of all the newly enrolled students. There was a movie-based workshop on multiple themes based on the Hindi film 3 idiots. The workshop was enjoyed by all the students. There was a session on stress management where the students were taught about how to deal with adverse situations in life and how to channelize energies to maximise the result. One of the attractive features of the workshop was demonstration of different kinds of snakes as well as adventure sport of fox climbing. Both these activities proved to be a huge hit among the students and many of them participated enthusiastically. The orientation programme also featured talks on value education and health and yoga by expert guests. Both the talks emphasized the importance of developing holistic personality. The last day of the programme had a session on awareness and prevention of sexual harassment. The session sensitized the students towards many forms of harassment prevalent in different sections of society and talked about how to deal with such problems. The entire orientation programme was designed to orient the students towards the college and provided an opportunity to understand what will be required of them in the next three years of their study at the Institute.

  • Industrial Visit to HoteL Gateway, Surat more

    24 students of TY BBA and BCA went on an industrial visit to Hotel Gateway, Surat on 11th January 2010. The group was welcomed by Mr. Ranjan, GM of the Hotel. Mr. Ranjan gave a small power-point presentation on the hotel industry and how it works. He also demonstrated a table arrangement and proper etiquettes of dinning. After refreshment, the group was taken on a property visit of the hotel. The guide explained the room orientation and different kinds of rooms. The group was also taken to the kitchen where the chef showed different sections of the kitchen. It was a complete orientation programme on hotel industry for the students.

  • Annual Day Celebration more

    The Annual Day Celebration and Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of the college was held on 13th February 2010. The entire programme was divided into two halves: the first half was organized in Maliba Sanskrutik Bhavan at Mahuva. The lunch and second half of the programme took place in the college campus. The day started at 9:00 am with the arrival of guests. The anchors of the programme, Mr. Vikas Patel and Ms. Nipam Chauhan welcomed the guests and the students. Mr. Vikas Patel set the ball rolling by initiating the prayer session which was followed by deep pragatya and floral welcome of the guests. In her address, Director of the college apprised the august gathering of all the activities done by the college throughout the year. She also congratulated everybody of the successful completion of NAAC Accreditation in the previous year. After that the prize distribution ceremony followed where students were awarded for Year Rank: 1st & 2nd; Semester Rank: 1st & 2nd; All Round Performance; Sports; Category; Rangoli Competition; and Leadership Awards. Teachers were also awarded for their contribution towards value addition of the college. The function also saw the birthday celebration of Bhula Dada. The cake was cut amidst thunderous applause. In his address, Bhula Dada thanked everyone for celebrating his birthday in most memorable manner. He put emphasis on greater co-ordination between material and spiritual life and cautioned the students against falling into the traps of material comforts headlong. Other dignitaries also addressed the students and wished for greater glory of the institute. The last event of the programme was cultural performances by students, staff, and parents. All performances added lustre to the morning. The formal function was followed by lunch at the college. The second half of the programme was devoted to the DJ dance mania and nobody was felt wanting as everyone tried their steps on the dance floor. It was a memorable day in every sense of the word.

    The Lecture Series and Training Programme 2010 was conducted from 23rd January 2010 to 29th January 2010. The programme has lectures on diverse topics like Confidence Building, Etiquettes & Grooming, Time Management, Photography, and Team Building.

  • Workshop for TY BBA and TY BCA more

    A five-day workshop for students of TY BBA and TY BCA on the topic MS Office was conducted in which all the important features of MS Office was dealt with in great detail. The topics covered were MS Words, MS Excel and MS Power-Point. The necessity of the workshop was felt because students are not aware of some common features of these software packages and this acts as a hindrance in the effective written presentation which the students are supposed to make as a part of their research project. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Vijay Gondaliya who went through each important tool in great detail. The lecture was followed by hands-on training in the computer laboratory where students created texts and used various tools to understand how to make their written document more presentable.

  • Inter-College Fest 2010 more

    The 3rd edition of Inter-College Management and IT Fest 2010 was organized on 13th January 2010. Around 100 participants from 16 different colleges of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University participated in this day-long affair. Challenge 2010: Compete to Excel and ITalent 2010: Express Yourself in IT hosted a total of five events: Advertisement, Movie-Based Quiz Competition, Extempore, Programming in C and Web Designing. The day started with registration and breakfast. During the inaugural function the Director welcomed all the participants and gave a brief outline of the theme of the Fest. The inaugural session was made colourful by the prayer song and welcome song sung by tiny tots of Govt. Primary School, Kanai. Shilpa and Sneha of BCA presented a dance performance on Ganesh Vandana. The entire event was organized at Shrimad Hall, Activity Room, and Computer Laboratory. The main attraction of the Fest was different Food Stalls and Game Parlours set up by the students of our college. All these stalls did good business in providing entertainment and thrill to the students as well as the participants. Those who love adventure sports had lot of fun as Nature Club of Surat set up contraptions for Rappelling and Fox Climbing, Students, participants as well as faculty also enjoyed both the sports. It was an exercise in pure thrill. The day also marked Kite Flying Celebration for FY and SY students. Students marked their presence in huge numbers to celebrate the occasion in company of DJ music. The sky was full of colourful kites of all hues and shapes. The great day finished with Prize Distribution and Valedictory Session.

  • Parents and Grand-Parents Day more

    The college organized a get-together of parents and grand-parents of the students. The idea behind the programme was to share an informal chat with the guardians and to bring out different talents of the parents. The event turned out to be hugely successful as parents shed their inhibitions and came on stage to sing songs, play musical instruments, and share thoughts. Before that parents were shown a power-point presentation of all the activities done in the college during the year. Students of all classes presented a cultural programme consisting of songs, dances, and musical instruments. Jaykumar of FY BBA mesmerised the audience with his enchanting table playing. Then at the end, everybody played Housie with vigour and enthusiasm. The programme ended with high tea for everybody. The high point of the refreshment was that all the food items were prepared by the students themselves in the college and it was greatly appreciated by everybody.
